2 men caught urinating inside Taj Mahal garden, authorities launch probe

After videos of tourists urinating in the gardens of the Taj Mahal went viral, the authorities have launched a probe and increased security measures at the mausoleum.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) said that the video is being investigated to determine when it was made and who made it viral. Additionally, the authorities are planning to increase the number of security personnel in the gardens.
Speaking to India Today, Agra ASI chief RK Patel said that an explanation is being sought from the Taj Mahal in-charge regarding this matter, and security personnel have been asked to increase vigilance in the gardens to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Calling it a shameful incident, Guide Association President Deepak Daan pointed out that this occurred despite the presence of CISF and ASI personnel at the complex.
He asked, “Why did none of these departments consider that, despite two toilets being built in the Taj Mahal complex, tourists are still urinating in the garden?”
Secretary of the Agra Tourist Welfare Chamber, Vishal Sharma, also criticised CISF and ASI staff, alleging a lack of alertness. According to him, this incident sends a message that the security of the Taj Mahal is not as tight as claimed.
